Nature Hike through the limestone forest

8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011

Meet in the parking lot of GCC (behind the Crime Lab and PBS Guam)

Come see Guam's unique Limestone Forest habitat! From breathtaking overlooks, to native trees and interesting rock formations, this hike is short but packed full of interesting sights. The hike is moderate.

Biologists and forestry experts will lead this hike with tours leaving every 20 minutes.

Ready, Set, Snorkel - Agat style!

Come join the Tasi group of the Environmental Education Committee to learn how to snorkel, clean up the beach and see some colorful ocean critters.

Meet at the Agat Marina from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a beach cleanup and snorkeling tour for those who would like to get in the water.

Bring:
- Friends and family
- Towel
- Water bottle
- Sun screen

Nature trail almost ready

The Tano group of the Environmental Education Committee is working on establishing an educational nature trail behind the University of Guam and Guam Community College.

Look for more information about this trail in late summer.

Learn safety and snorkeling on Saturday!

Don't miss the TASI group of the Environmental Education Committee's first event this Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Registration opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 at Ypao beach park near Guam Visitors Bureau
  • Guided tours with experts will be at 8 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m., and 9:30 a.m.
  • Gear is provided.
  • Participants who have snorkeling gear are encouraged to bring their own set
  • Families can snorkel in the water together. All children participating must have a parent present.
  • The event includes a brief presentation about water safety and safety in Tumon Bay

The Tasi Group of the Environmental Education Committee is having their first event of 2011 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16!

Come join them at Ypao beach for snorkeling, information about how to be safe in the water and guided tours of the water for the whole family. We will post more information about the event and registration this week.

Thanks to dozens of volunteers and many parents who brought their children, Splashin' in the Sea 2010 was a success.

More than 60 students got to snorkel in Tumon Bay during the event. Other activities included watching a puppet show, learning about Guam's environment and learning how to fish with talaya.

Thanks to all who participated. Check out our photo album and look for more events like this during 2011.

Register for Splashin' in the Sea

The Environmental Education Committee is planning Guam's second Splashin' in the Sea event on Saturday Dec. 18, 2010 at Ypao Beach Park in Tumon!

The event is FREE and open to students of all ages. Snorkeling lessons and a guided tour of Tumon Bay will be available for students ages six to 12. Students five and under will have educational beach games and toys available. Food and water will be available but participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle.

Guam's biggest cleanup!

Join us at the International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010.
 
The cleanup starts at 7 a.m. at many different locations around Guam including beach sites in Ipan, Agat, Merizo, Asan, Tanguisson in Harmon and even Marbo Cave!
 
Bring gloves and a reusable water bottle.
